This years this International Tournament is
Organized by the National Karate Kyokushin Belgium under the leadership of
Shihan Marc Walleghem. The European Kyokushinkai Organization is extending an
invitation to countries from all around the world and also make it open to
others Kyokushin Organizations and to others stiles. Many fighters for all
around the World will get together to test their skill against others. This
Tournament promised to be the biggest Open Kyokushin World tournament . We wish
Shihan Marc Walleghem and his Organization all the best on this event.

FU - MUAY THAI - ETC. - Open for every Karateka from every style are faction who's prepared to fight according to Budo-spirit on IKO-Knockdown rules (full contact). - Applicants should have turned 18 years; - Applicants should have official medical certificate that approves participating at competitions and for women a pregnancy test with negative result. There will also be a medical inspection before the tournament. - Participants must wear a Dogi. - There will be a maximum of 2 fighters/category/country; priority will be given to IKO - Matushima members. |

Dear Kancho, Shihan, Sensei and Senpai,
As Branch Chief of the International Karate Organisation IKO_Matsushima I have the honour to invite you to the 3rd European Open Championships Kyokushin Karate Kumite held in Antwerp on November 15th, 2003.
We will welcome at this event also :
· Kancho Yoshikazu Matsushima, president of the IKO;
· Shihan John Taylor, vice-president of the IKO;
· Shihan Roman Szyrajew, North American Regional Head of the IKO;
· And many other international teams and representatives.
The schedule of the event will be as follows:
· Thursday November 13th; arrival of teams and officials
· Friday November 14th; weighing at the Hotel Campanile; briefing of the referee's
· Saturday November 15th; tournament (Arenahal) and sayonara party (Hotel Campanile)
· Sunday November 16th; branch chief meeting of IKO and also EKO at the Hotel Campanile at 10:00h
· Monday November 17th; seminar given by Kancho Matsushima at Tamashi Dojo at 13:00h
·
Monday November 17th; grading by Kancho
Matsushima at Tamashi Dojo at 20:00h
Hotel accommodation is foreseen at the Campanile Hotel very near to the tournament hall.

Every room has TV, phone, bathroom with bath or shower.
There will be a free shuttle bus from the Hotel to the tournament Hall and back.
The sayonara party will be in the Hotel at 21h and includes a diner (soup, buffet with salad, fish and meat and 5 consummations) and costs 30 Euro/person (free for officials and fighters).

About the tournament :
The tournament will take place in the Arenahal, Arenaplein1 2100 Deurne (tel) 32 3 3211512
There are about 1250 seats and 100 extra VIP places available.
The fighters will have locked rooms with showers.
There 's a separate briefing room for referees and officials.
Entrance fee is 12.5,- Euro or 10,- Euro (pre-sale).
There is no application fee for this tournament.
Every country of the EKO can send two participants per category (max 6 candidates).
If there are less participants for a country other karateka can also apply (also from other factions or styles). The vacant places will be filled in first order with people of the same country if not with other karateka.
Two passport pictures of every fighter and branch chief have to be send with the application.
Every fighter has to be registered. Therefore non-European (EU) or non-North American fighters will have to supply a visum-approval of the Belgian Embassy (please ask your visum at least before June 2003!!!)
There will
be a maximum of 128 fighters a this tournament.
The categories are as follows :
Male -70 kg, -80 kg and + 80 kg
Female -55 kg, -62,5 kg, +62,5 kg
There have to be at least 4 fighters in each category (if not categories can be changed).
Applicants should have turned 18 years; should have official medical certificate that approves participating at competitions and for women a pregnancy test with negative result.
There will also be a medical inspection before the tournament.
Participants will wear a Dogi.
Participants will prove that they have a sport-insurance suited for full contact sports.
Participants will sign a declaration saying they take full responsibility of participation in this event.
Participants will fight under Budo spirit and full fair play and will act as such on this tournament.

· one is free to use a mouth bit
