This Taekwondo Championships is hosted by
Grand Master Joo W. Kang, every year and bring together all the the tops fighter
of the province of Manitoba and also from outside of the province. This 2002 event will be on Saturday, April 20, 2002, at the Duckworth Centre
at the University of Winnipeg. Around 400 competitors would get together
to compete in Poomse (Forms), and Gyurookee (Sparring). This is a chance for you
to come and support your local athletes and also to watch the tops competitors
in the province.
When : April 20, 2002.
Time : Start at 11:00 a.m.
Where : Duckworth Centre at the University of Winnipeg.
Spectator Fee :
6 years old & under = Free (Must be accompanied by an adult)
18 years old & under = $8.00
General = $10.00
Program :
10:00 a.m.
- Referee and Judges meeting.
ID Cards will be issued.
11:00 a.m.

Belts.
- Gyurookee ( Sparring, Kumite) and Poomse = Color Belts.

Demonstration
Competition :
One team per school
consisting of 2 - 5 members.
Total demonstration time should be 1 -
5 minutes.
Winner of this competition will
receive a trophy plus a cash prize.
Safety equipment
:
Head and Chest
guards are supplied by the organizer.
Mandatory forearm and shin guards and
athletic cup will be supplied by the competitor.
Rules and
Regulations - Gyurookee :
- All Black
Belt matches will be scored using the new scoring regulations proposed by the
WTF.
- A scoring technique to the middle section will be 1 point.
- A scoring technique to the high section will be 2 points.
- An additional point will be added to the point results in a knock down
(referee count).
- Poom and Colour Belt matches will not use the new scoring regulations.
- All Gyurookee weight categories ages 15 & over have been modified according to
the divisions set at the Olympic Games.
- Match duration time for Colour Belts
- 2 rounds of 1 minute.
- Match duration time for Poom/Black Belt Eliminations - 2 rounds of 2 minutes.
- Match duration time for Poom/Black Belt Finals - 2 rounds of 3 minutes.
In this tournament, athletes from all
Manitoba, others provinces, and also from the USA come together to compete
against the best athletes on the province. Below there are a list of the
