This Taekwondo Championships was hosted by Master Sonny Pabuaya, from Iron Fist Fist Tae Kwon Do. Competitors from the province of Manitoba as well from outside of the province got together to compete in Poomse (Forms), and Gyurookee (Sparring).. This event was realized on Saturday, May 14, 2005, at  the University of Winnipeg, Duckworth Centre. This is a chance for you to come and support your local athletes and also to watch the tops competitors in the province.
We hope that all the competitors from outside of Winnipeg had a save return home, and hopefully we will see them again next year.
There were many people who come to watch and support the athletes. It was nice to see that the price for the tickets to watch this event was very affordable to the public, we hope that others organizer of Taekwondo events follow this example and make their events affordable to the general public.

 It was nice to see Mr. Kurtis Kostamo and his students who come from Thunder Bay to be part of this event. Mr. Kurtis Kostamo, was a successful and skillful competitor himself, unfortunately after he became a National Champion he injured his heel when he was representing Canada in a World Taekwondo Championships, since then he has not been able to compete, but is dedicated to teaching and passing on his experience and knowledge to others  under the direction of his teacher Grandmaster Song. We hope they keep coming to Winnipeg to support our local events.

 There is much need for an event like this which allows anyone to participate under the WTF rules. We hope that next year even more athletes participate and that this tournament becomes one of the most important and biggest tournaments in the province.
